Reading taste first
Recommendations are meant to feel like a guided shelf-building conversation, not a generic bestseller feed.
About Classic Shelf
Classic Shelf exists to close the gap between generic lists of "100 classics everyone should read" and the actual experience of building a shelf that suits your taste, patience, and ambitions.
The product pairs a manually curated classics catalogue with Goodreads CSV parsing so recommendations stay explainable. If the system says you are a strong fit for Tolstoy and a weak fit for Plato right now, it should be able to show why.
The project is intentionally conservative about data use: no Goodreads API dependency, no scraped third-party review text, and no unauthorised reuse of Amazon star ratings or reviews.

Explainable scoring
Fit scores stay grounded in catalogue metadata plus the reading history you provide through a Goodreads export.
Edition aware
Book pages are structured to guide readers toward thoughtful physical editions without leaning on scraped marketplace review copy.
