How buying links are handled

Classic Shelf may include manually maintained affiliate links for recommended editions. If a purchase happens through one of those links, the site may earn a commission at no extra cost to the reader.

Classic Shelf keeps affiliate logic separate from recommendation logic. Recommendation scores are based on the internal catalogue plus user-supplied Goodreads CSV data, not on scraped product reviews, star ratings, or marketplace availability claims.

Amazon Product Advertising API access should not be assumed. Until approved access exists, product links should be treated as manually curated placements and disclosed clearly.

What this means in practice

  • Recommendation scores are not influenced by affiliate placement.
  • Buying links appear only where a clear edition recommendation already exists.
  • Review text, star ratings, and marketplace sentiment are not scraped into the product.
